Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW)
9th May - 15th May 2022

Join Us For A Special MHAW Arts and Crafts Project - FREE Virtual Event

This year for MHAW the focus is on raising awareness, learning practical tools and enjoying yourself through the world of arts and crafts.

With these three elements combined, we are creating a powerful, fun and vibrant event where people of all ages come together to express their brilliant individuality through the medium of crafts.

THIS IS A COMPLETELY FREE EVENT – ALL YOU’LL NEED IS SOME PAPER, PENCILS AND COLOURING PENCILS.

How does it work?

People throughout Norwich and Norfolk are joining together in a virtual pop-up group to celebrate MHAW and embrace the use of arts and crafts to spread positive mental health news.

  1. In the days leading up to MHAW we’ll all join together in a private pop-up Facebook group. You can introduce yourself, say hello, or just sit quietly and wait for the event to start.
  2. On Sunday 8th of May the MHAW video will be published into the group. This will be a concise 3-4 minute video packed full of helpful tips and tools to help raise awareness and share important mental health concepts.
  3. On Monday 9th May – the fun begins!
  4. Over the course of three days, participants will take the video and turn it into their own unique Mental Health Awareness mind map. As a group we will guide you through the drawing, colouring and capturing phases, supporting and sharing our progress along the way. There is no right or wrong way to do your own mind map masterpiece, so you can let your creativity shine through!
  5. Whether you are an expert or a complete novice, the focus here is on having fun getting crafty with some important mental health principles.
  6. On Thursday 12th May, in one joint effort, we’ll all share our crafty masterpieces across social media to share a powerful message of positive mental health.
  7. We would love to see you get involved and have as much creative fun as possible this MHAW.
