There are several different types of anxiety and some commonly diagnosed anxiety disorders. Below are some of the different conditions coaching and hypnotherapy can help with.

Types of Anxiety

Panic attacks or ‘anxiety attacks’ can be very frightening experiences, and can occur frequently in some people. It only becomes a panic disorder when these panic attacks become more frequent and debilitating. The physical symptoms of a panic attack include your heart pounding, chest pain and tightness, and rapid breathing. Most commonly panic attacks can usually last up to 20 minutes. As a result, afterwards you may feel exhausted and then being to worry and ruminate about having another panic attack in the future. This then leads to a vicious cycle that perpetuates the cycle of anxiety. Due to the nature of panic attacks, they can sometimes mimic the symptoms of a heart attack. Moreover, we recommend consulting a medical professional to rule out any potential medical causes before receiving coaching.

Firstly, hypnotherapy and coaching in Walthamstow can help to relieve panic attack symptoms. It can help you interrupt the ongoing cycle of anxiety and help you to change your thinking patterns. Secondly, specialised panic attack help is provided in the form of a home hypnotherapy recording. Thirdly, specific techniques are taught that act as panic attack remedies and can stop them in their tracks with practice and persistence.

Coaching and hypnotherapy aim to provide you with tools to overcome anxiety and to help you identify the root cause of your panic attacks. In summary, my standard and premium packages can help you to feel calmer, more confident, and more in control of how you think and feel.

Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

Generalised Anxiety Disorder, or sometimes referred to simply as GAD is a common type of anxiety. It is characterised by regular, prolonged and excessive periods of worry.

Due to these prolonged periods of worry GAD can impact upon many different contexts in your life. This can range from relationships, work, finances and friends. One common problem people face is negative thoughts spiralling out of control. In addition to worrying, physical symptoms such as nausea, fidgeting, vomiting, sweating, headaches, stomach upsets and diarrhoea can occur.

GAD can develop from a significant incident or life event. Similarly, it can develop from a low level of anxiety that progresses with time. Consequently it can often impact upon your overall health, including your sleep, and your occupation. A formal diagnosis requires these symptoms to be present for more than 6 months. However, the sooner you seek help the quicker improvements can be made.

The Standard Plus and Premium coaching packages can help you overcome anxiety and fear, and the fear of anxiety itself. in conclusion, these packages are a natural treatment for anxiety without medication to assist you in feeling calmer, more confident and content.

Social Anxiety Disorder

Social Anxiety Disorder is when you have feelings of extreme anxiety and fear when in social situations. As a result this means popular events such as work meetings, social gatherings and even parties can trigger anxiety. These feelings of extreme anxiety could therefore have a considerable impact on your life, as it will affect which jobs you go for, where you meet friends etc. People with Social Anxiety Disorder sometimes try to avoid social situations where they may have to speak in front of people. For instance, this could be presentations, work meetings or networking events.

The physical signs of anxiety are quiet diverse, and are usually initiated by receiving scrutiny from others, or even perceived scrutiny from others. Social Anxiety Disorder can lead to symptoms such as blushing, stammering, excessive sweating and shaking/trembling.

Hypnotherapy and coaching can help to significantly improve social anxiety. Finally, my Standard Plus and Premium packages will boost your confidence, improve your communication skills, help with public speaking and increase self-esteem.

Fears and Phobias

Many people have fears about certain things, activities or events. A phobia is when you have an extreme or irrational fear caused by a specific problem or situation. The most common phobias are public speaking, flying, heights and spiders, as well as claustrophobia. These are all situations that a person may expect to come into contact with on a regular basis, and so keeping these phobias can place considerable limitations on your quality of life.

Phobias can also be very obscure and random, such as of wooden sticks or balloons. As phobias such as these can cause embarrassment often people will suffer in silence and hide their phobia for months or even years.

Coaching and hypnotherapy can provide a fast, effective cure for phobias and most can be resolved within the standard package. Furthermore, working on these issues can remove those unnecessary limitations on your behaviour and improve your quality of life.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is classified as an anxiety disorder and primarily consists of obsessions and compulsions. The symptoms of OCD include repetitive thoughts and behaviours, and repeated urges to do a certain action or behaviour.

Obsessive behaviours can start out as repetitive thoughts, ideas or images that seem to cycle and loop. This leads to doubts, worry and often intense anxiety. To diffuse or temporarily reduce feelings of anxiety, repetitive actions, or compulsions are employed. Examples of OCD maybe checking a door is locked multiple times or switching off all electrical devices and then checking several times. You may have taken part in a formal OCD test or just may be aware of things you feel you have to do.

Hypnotherapy and coaching can be an effective way of helping to resolve the underlying anxiety that drives the compulsive behaviours. The Standard Plus and Premium packages serve to provide strategies to interrupt obsessive thoughts, reduce anxiety and improve your ability to manage certain situations.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that occurs in some people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event. Symptoms of PTSD include intrusive thoughts, which includes flashback images and distressing dreams. These can range in intensity but can become so intense the person believes the event is happening now – which can be incredibly distressing. Other symptoms include attempting to withdraw from situation which may trigger a flashback, irritability, and negative thoughts. PTSD can have a significant impact on quality of life, and if you would like more information on how coaching and hypnotherapy can help, you can find this here.

Common Symptoms of an Anxiety Disorder

  • Feeling agitated: When the nervous system is in ‘fight or flight’ mode, you may experience sweating, clammy hands, dry mouth and a rapid heartbeat. This means that the brain is perceiving a threat and has initiated the stress response, often leading to irritability
  • Excessive worrying: It is very normal to have occasional worries and concerns. Yet when these worries become difficult to control they can become problematic.
  • Chronic fatigue: Being in a state of prolonged anxiousness requires a lot of energy, and sooner or later the body needs to recoup some of these energy stores. This can cause fatigue like symptoms and can affect sleep leading to insomnia.
  • Low Self-esteem: Many people experiencing anxiety are worried about if they are good enough. Alternatively, some people continually compare themselves to others. Both of these can lead to feelings of low self-esteem.
